Elan Wright is a Grammy winning, multi platinum musician, songwriter, producer, recording engineer and the co-owner of Ruby Room Recording Studio in Seattle, founded in 2013. He has worked with artists including Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Kesha, Sango, Paris Alexa, Travis Thompson, Sol, and many more. He has written music for companies including Nike, Uber, Universal Audio and Netflix and his work has featured in movies and television including ‘Angry Birds 2’, ‘Lego: Ninjago’, Netflix’s ‘Rezball’, CBS ‘Black Lightning’ and more.
Elan started playing music in orchestra as a violinist at age 10. Throughout middle and high school he was a part of stage band, jazz band, and orchestra as a bassist. Around age 12 he started playing the electric bass guitar, and eventually the guitar. He played in many bands throughout high school but his career made a big leap in 2004 when he joined the pop rock band Danger Radio as lead guitarist. He began touring nationally with this band while he was in his senior year at Shorecrest High School, and in 2007, one year after graduating, the band signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. Wright spent 5 years touring the United States and Europe with the band.
After the members of Danger Radio went their separate ways in 2009, Elan returned to Seattle where he received his Associates degree in Audio Production from the Art Institute of Seattle. During his time in college he began meeting and recording local artists. Through mutual friends he was introduced to Nima “Skeemz” Abbassi, and they began to collaborate on music together with the artist Sol. Sol released his debut album “Yours Truly” in 2012, featuring production from Wright and Abbassi, which would go on to reach #1 on the iTunes hip hop charts and #4 in the Global charts.
Following the success of Sol’s album, Wright and Abbassi teamed up to create The Ruby Room Recording studio in 2013. They have since recorded and produced for hundreds of artists locally and nationally, with many artists going on to build successful careers of their own.
In 2020 the Seattle Times listed Wright and Abbassi as one of ’15 Artists that Defined the Music Scene in the 2010’s’. Between 2018-2021 he was a teaching artist for the The Residency, a non profit organization providing youth development and mentorship centered around culture and hip hop. Elan lives in West Seattle with his wife Alyson, two children Aiden and Hazel, and their cat Goldie.
